At 99 years old, British naturalist Sir David Attenborough has created a striking documentary about the fragile balance of marine ecosystems and the ravages of industrial giants. A spectacular film streaming on Disney+.

The images were widely shared on social media. A chain scrapes heavily along the ocean floor, stirring up sand, and lifting rocks. The fish begin their escape, in a veritable race against the net that threatens to capture them, a net in which we are caught. And when it comes up, it leaves fish, sharks, and rays dying on the deck of the giant trawler. It's doubtful they're still alive when they're thrown back into the sea en masse. On such a boat, up to three-quarters of the catch can be returned to the water.
